Speaking of LibGuides, are there any fun, exciting LibGuides for you?
Why, yes! Continue on to our [[Events]] to find out!
We at the library wish to involve students both in-person and online throughout the semester with programs and virtual displays.
Every month or so, our Services & Outreach manager, Martha Dauzat, creates a new virtual display with LibGuides.
<img src="https://libapps.s3.amazonaws.com/accounts/217658/images/virtual_display.jpg"
width="70%">
The displays include eBooks, primary sources, educational links, and videos to encompass the topic chosen.
If you are interested in checking them out, follow this link: <a href="https://lsua.libguides.com/virtualdisplay" target="_blank">Virtual Display</a>.
In honor of National Poetry Month in April, we hosted a haiku contest that was a huge success for our online students. Our second place winner was an online student!

In October, we will host a two-sentence horror story, so watch those inboxes and join us for spooky fun and prizes! 😁

We hope you enjoyed our online orientation! If you would like to restart or revisit specific sections, go back to [[Home]].
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the orientation, contact Martha Dauzat.
The Advanced Search video below takes you step-by-step through the advanced search options and the outcomes associated with each one.
You can access the Advanced Search option with this link: <a href="https://lsua.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/lsua/search/advanced?" target="_blank">Advanced Search</a>
<iframe width="700" height="450" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pMA-d0aV6XI" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
When you are ready, begin [[Research 101]].
''Scholarship as Conversation'': Scholarship is like a conversation where ideas are created, debated, and weighed against one another over time. Information users and creators come together to discuss meaning, with the effective researcher adding his or her voice to the conversation.
<p><iframe width="700" height="450" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WB9pAZPJp_g" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
When you are ready, continue to [[Research as Process]].
''Research as Process'': Research and inquiry is a process which is iterative and depends upon asking increasingly complex questions.
<p><iframe width="700" height="450" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9ExGQPk982w" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
When you are ready, continue to [[Authority is Constructed and Contextual]].
''Authority is Constructed and Contextual'': An information source's context--where it came from, its audience, format, and how it is used--help determine its authority and appropriateness.
<p><iframe width="700" height="450" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/E_JsBhN2dDM" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
When you are ready, continue to [[Searching as Strategic Exploration]].
''Searching as Strategic Exploration'': Locating information requires a combination of inquiry, discovery, and serendipity. There is no one size fits all source to find the needed information. Information discovery is nonlinear and iterative, requiring the use of a broad range of information sources and flexibility to pursue alternate avenues as new understanding is developed.
<p><iframe width="700" height="450" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ttaPomA5xUE" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
